Thus, it is clear that an increase in thyroxine can prove beneficial for individuals looking to lose weight given the symptoms produced by an excessive production of thyroxine. Sometimes, doctors prescribe synthetic thyroxine to individuals requiring the medication for low T4 hormone levels.

Synthetic thyroxine is not recommended for weight loss if you don't have a thyroid condition. You can, however, turn to natural thyroid products like Westhroid, Nature-Throid, or Armour Throid. These can be purchased at an herbal shop or online, and you do not need a prescription.

Consume 30 mg of Nature-Throid once a day on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. Add 15 mg to your intake per day two to three times a week to slowly encourage the production of T3 and T4 in your body. Once you have reached a level of 120 mg a day, stop adding more Nature-Throid to your daily intake, and consume 120 mg a day for maintenance.

Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) can occur at any age, but older adults are more affected by it. Approximately 10 million Americans have it, according to Endocrine Web. After age 65, 10 percent of women and 6 percent of men get it, according to Merck. It can potentially be the cause of, or contribute to, vertigo.

Hypothyroidism is when the body has a deficiency in hormones produced by the thyroid gland. It is the result of an autoimmune disease (such as Hashimoto's thyroiditis) or can be caused by iodine therapy or thyroid removal. Symptoms include unexplained coldness, forgetfulness, constipation, weight gain and fatigue.

Vertigo is a feeling of movement when motion is not happening. It can occur all the time or only when the body is in certain positions. Some of the causes include migraines, brain trauma, stress, central nervous system problems, multiple sclerosis, dehydration, cardiovascular disease and neck injuries. The Neurology Channel claims that thyroid disorders can cause vertigo. The Merck Manual of Health & Aging also says that dizziness is associated with an underactive thyroid.

Hypothyroidism is also associated with loss of hearing, according to eHealthMD. The loss of hearing may cause vertigo sensations. About 3 percent of those with Meniere's syndrome (a collection of symptoms including vertigo) also have hypothyroidism, according to The Merck Manual of Health & Aging. With treatment, both can be improved.

While hypothyroidism can cause sensations of dizziness or vertigo, it may also contribute to conditions like hearing loss or elevated triglycerides, which can be associated with vertigo too. Hypothyroidism can not only cause vertigo, but can worsen the symptoms of vertigo.

Doctors typically perform a blood test to determine hypothyroidism. In those with the condition, blood tests will reveal that T4 (the main thyroid hormone) is low and TSH (a thyroid stimulating hormone) is high in an attempt to compensate for low T4. To correct the imbalance, doctors usually prescribe hormone replacement medication. Those who are diagnosed with severe hypothyroidism may need to be hospitalized until their condition improves.

The first, the Master Cleanse, is the most popular of all liquid diets today.

This liquid diet consists of mixing together 14 tablespoons of lemon Juice, 14 tablespoons of maple syrup, teaspoon cayenne pepper and two liters of water. This is your drink for the entire day. Take the two liters of lemon Juice and whenever you feel a pang of hunger, drink a cup of it and then chase it with some water. You can drink as much water as you like. This will give your stomach the illusion of being full while cleansing your palette, throat and stomach of the lemon, pepper and maple syrup.

In the evening, you're going to do what's known as the Salt Water Flush. Be within a few minutes of a restroom as your bowels will be ready to empty once you drink this solution. Mix in a full tablespoon of salt with a liter of warm water. Chug the entire contents. You should have to go to the bathroom within 30 minutes.

Not only does this help you lose weight, but the pepper and maple syrup, in addition to the warm salt water, helps to clean your stomach and intestines of any toxins left in there. You will start to feel lighter within two days of the Master Cleanse, as well as very dizzy. Don't worry. Your mind will begin to sharpen by day five or six. Don't try this diet for longer than 14 days.

JuiceFasting.org, a website providing information on juice- and liquid-only diets, said a juice fast is the best balance between nutrition, health sustainment and weight loss.

In order to do a juice fast properly, you will need a juicer to cut up your fruits. This is to make sure that you are drinking natural juices and not juice loaded with concentrates and unnatural sugar. And you can also put more than fruits into the juicer. Tomato juice is loaded with antioxidants. Carrot juice has an incredible amount of Vitamin A. One cup of spinach juice has up to 500 percent of the amount of iron you'll need for the day.

Foods not included to be eaten during a Juice Fast include all animal flesh of any kind (fish included), eggs and dairy products. Honey is allowed in small doses for sweetening purposes. Try and stay away from artificial sweeteners as the point of a fast is for your body to get rid of toxins, not put more in.

For breakfast everyday, juice up four tomatoes. Add a little hot sauce to the tomato juice(it's just like a Bloody Mary) and eat some almond paste (almonds are loaded with antioxidants and protein).

For lunch, put enough carrots in a juicer to get a full glass. With that, eat a cup of plain yogurt. Nothing solid should be in the yogurt.

For dinner, drink fruit juice. Pick fruits with low acidic levels to help your stomach while you sleep. Low acidic foods include apples, bananas and carrots.
