Oatmeal and Water DietOatmeal and Water Diet

If you're trying to lose weight, oatmeal is one of the best foods you can eat. Very low in fat and high in fiber, oatmeal is also low in sodium and cholesterol. To lose weight eating oatmeal and drinking lots of water, follow these steps.

For the first seven days, eat a half cup of oatmeal each day in the morning and for lunch. You can get creative with it by adding raisins or fresh fruit like blueberries or cranberries to your oatmeal. For dinner, eat something high in protein like grilled chicken or fish with a side of vegetables.

With any diet or weight loss plan, it's important to drink at least eight oz. of water a day. It prevents dehydration, helps your skin look and feel better, and cleanses your body of toxins. With the oatmeal diet, it's important to drink at least eight oz. of water a day. If you have trouble drinking this much water a day, try carrying it around with you so it's always handy or add a couple slices of lemon or lime to make it more tasty.

Like any diet, you'll want to work out three to four times a week for at least 20 minutes to get optimal results. Do some light cardio like walking or running; stretch your muscles with some light yoga; and do some strength training on your abs, legs and arm muscles.

For best results, it's important not to eat oatmeal every day after the initial seven days. That's known as a fad diet, and fad diets don't work. Slowly bring back regular, healthy meals into your diet after the first seven days.
